Peter Philips Brings His Beauty Kit to Life for the Brand’s Cheeky Short

A jet-propelled robot, a beaming sun god and an impish spider are not the likeliest of characters to embody the ultra-luxurious world of Chanel, but Peter Philips, the innovative mind behind them, has made his name pursuing the unexpected. Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup took a break from conceptualizing cosmetic gold to don the animator’s cap for today’s short, a work inspired by a series of headdresses he crafted from beauty product packaging for a Vogue Paris shoot. Built from a trove of compacts, glosses, brushes and more, Philips’s characters embark on a journey that begins with a lipstick-powered automaton blasting through the clouds and ends on more familiar ground, with a model whose chic ensemble channels Mme Chanel herself. Philips came to the task with the requisite technical skills, having studied graphic design before attending Antwerp’s Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. But he did concede on one creative point—the music. “If it were up to me it would have been disco,” he confesses.

Mango Spring/Summer 2011 Campaign- Scarlett Johansson by Mario Sorrenti





Casa la Ricarda , a spectacular modernist house in Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona), was the venue for the photo shoot for Mango’s new Spring 2011 campaign, in which the American actress about to let himself be photographed by the lens of Mario Sorrenti. The styling was directed by Jane How, while Aaron May and Oribe took charge of the makeup and hair, respectively.
The prestigious photographer who collaborates with Mango since Scarlett became the brand’s image, he knew again immortalize the most sophisticated and cool side of the actress. Scarlett Johansson said he feels very comfortable working for the brand: “Yes, it was awesome working with Mango. I loved working with the entire team, I think we had something very good in working with Mario, with the team of makeup, hair and styling. ”
The new collection of Mango, known Modernist Resort, affixed to a clean, modernist look, emphasizing simple lines and minimalist silhouettes that power through bright colors and contrasting graphics in pinstripes. Skirts longer to evolve ways of pencils and become slightly fuller, which gives movement and sensuality.
The definition of this look is also reflected in the range of colors. The blocks of color in bright tones of lemon and mint green lend an air of optimism, while the pink watermelon, the different shades and tones tanned nude give a luxe touch to the collection utility, with chic combinations that contrast with the soft golden tones in closures. The touches of bright colors such as reds, oranges and yellows give the range of light beige, while introducing the blue sailor retro touch.

Taking her signature clean lines and modern silhouettes into exaggerated proportions, Stella McCartney's Autumn 2011 collection is playful but wearable using a pared-down palette of navy and camel mixed with hits of crimson and emerald.


Graphic print meets bold patterns as tweeds, layered knitwear and masculine tailoring takes centre stage in the key pieces. Textures play a starring role also, with an array of silk, wool, corduroy, gross grain and lace. Exposed seams, over-sized collars and lengths give the collection an exaggerated flourish and accessories feature patent pumps, knee high boots and colour block plexi clutches.
Showcasing the new designs in a special presentation in New York the stunning collection will be hitting the Paris runway next month for Fashion Week.

GWEN THE FACE OF L'OREAL


NEW YORK (Billboard) - Following in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce, Gwen Stefani has announced that she will be the next face of cosmetics giant L'Oreal Paris.

"I can't believe I get to be one of the L'Oreal Paris girls," said the singer. "I love playing dress up, on stage or shooting videos, it's always been one of my favorite parts of being in a band. And to get to work with such a modern, talented group of people is really exciting."

Stefani, who has previously spearheaded two fashion lines and a perfume brand, will make her L'Oreal debut with a campaign for the Infallible Le Rouge lip color.

The singer's first TV ad will premiere during the Golden Globe awards telecast on NBC on January 16.

Meanwhile, the 41-year-old Stefani is focusing on new music, as her band, No Doubt, has officially begun recording their first album in almost 10 years.

Louis Vuitton Calls On A Few "IT" Girls For Its Spring Jewellery Lookbook






The house of Vuitton has access to just about every supermodel it could want for its ad campaigns, the latest stars Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmermann, and Kristen McMenamy, and last season’s roped Christy Turlington, Karen Elson, and Natalia Vodianova... But for its fashion jewelry lookbook for Spring, the brand skipped the seasoned pros and went for friends instead. "HuH"??  An international hodge-podge of It girls lent their services to the sixties pin-up inspired shots, including Alexandra Richards (above right), Rinko Kikuchi, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Sky Ferreira, and Nathalie Love. Of course, since these ladies are mostly part-time models, their full-time careers are listed, too. though, of course, they’re mainly of the It girl variety. There are actresses, TV announcers, DJs, singers, and even a “reporter and party girl,” but our favourite goes to Miss Mary Charteris (above left), modeling a pendant and necklace from the Cosmopolitan collection. Her job: “Aristocrat.” hahah... Don't you just love it!!

JESSIE J/LEONA LEWIS TO DUET?

Do It Like A Dude star Jessie J is barely out of the traps but is already planning a Christmas No.1 with Leona Lewis.
Jessie, who topped the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll and will collect the Critics' Choice award at next month's Brits in London, is already in talks with chart-topper Leona about a special festive duet.
Speaking exclusively to Email, the 22-year-old revealed: "L eona and I want to do a duet together. I'm planning to write a Whitney-Mariah-style When You Believe kind of song and release it next Christmas.
"I think Leona is incredible. Her voice intimidates me because she is so good. Her range is unreal but I feel we would complement each other."
The Sound of 2011 poll was compiled from votes from music critics, DJs, journalists, broadcasters and bloggers.
Singer-songwriter Jessie - real name Jessica Ellen Cornish - has become the second artist in a row to win both the BBC's poll and the Brits Critics' Choice award, after Ellie Goulding's success last year.
Jessie said: "It is important for British female singers to support each other. I am friends with Ellie and it is never about a competition with me.
"It is beautiful that we can come together and share what we have."
Jessie is signed to Island in the UK but only landed the deal after showcases in the US in front of music moguls including Clive Davis, LA Reid and Monte Lipman.
She has already made a name for herself as a songwriter, co-writing the Miley Cyrus hit Party In The USA, which topped the Billboard chart in America.
Since then, her first UK release, Do It Like A Dude, shot into the Top 20 and has sold 100,000 copies.
Jessie, who suffers from an irregular heartbeat andhad a stroke four years ago, says the intervention of Davis started a turnaround in her fortunes after she endured series of label rejections in the UK.
She said: "Clive is like the industry wise owl. He saw something in me and that made a big difference.
"The only thing that saddens me is I wasn't able to sign in the UK first but, maybe if I had, I wouldn't be able to take my music around the world."
Jessie finds it difficult to keep up her striking image 24/7 - after appearing with Swarovski-encrusted eyelashes and lips in the video Do It Like A Dude.
She said : "I feel people are disappointed when they see me with normal eyeshadow or lip salve.
"They expect me to have crystals on all the time."

The pair have often said they would like a little girl and the boys are said to be "very excited" at the thought of a new brother or sister.
While the couple currently live with their sons in Los Angeles, it is believed they are considering a return to the UK.
David Beckham is currently signed to US team LA Galaxy, however speculation is rife the former England captain will move to Tottenham Hotspur.
But that seems to have been ruled out by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp.
Speaking to Sky Sports News earlier, he said: "David is welcome to come and train here for a month or so which I think he would like to do but it looks like, as far as playing goes, it looks like a no-goer." 
Victoria is known to want strengthen her ties with the European fashion world as she continues to design her own collection of womenswear.
The couple met in 1997 when Victoria - then "Posh" Spice from the Spice Girls - went to a Manchester United match at which David was playing.
