GUALTIER - HORSES FOR FASHION

Jean Paul Gaultier pulls out all the stops for his final Hermes collection.
In the past few week's we've witnessed Roberto Cavalli’s glitzy birthday bash, Giles casting Abbey Clancey and Kelly Brook, Ines de la Fressange returning to Chanel and Geri Halliwell and Kerry Katona hit the front row. We've been wowed by it all but it seems that fashion week saved the best till (almost last). Today's most talked about? Hermes.
Jean Paul Gaultier just bowed out with his final collection for the luxe label. We could have predicted that he would go out with a bang, but he wowed even the most jaded fashion editors by putting real horses on the runway. That’s right. He set up a full sized dressage arena and had eight horse being ridden around in it while gauchos strode the length of the catwalk. When it comes to animal magic this puts Mulberry's dogs and Louis Vuitton's stuffed tigers into the shade.

BETH DITTO? NOW A FASHION MODEL?

Now that's a plus-sized model! Size 28 Beth Ditto takes to the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week

She once called Karl Lagerfeld a 'miserable little man' and described Kate Moss as looking 'as boring as hell'.
But in recent years singer Beth Ditto has embraced the fashion world with her own range for Evans and a new friend in Moss. So perhaps it was only a matter of time before she hit the catwalk.
And unlike the usual 'plus-sized models' - who are size 14 or 16 - Beth is around a size 28.
PI salute you: Beth Ditto of U.S. band Gossip presents a creation by French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier as part of his Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show in Paris

But she proved a natural as she strutted and saluted her way down the catwalk for Jean Paul Gaultier during his spring-summer 2011 ready-to-wear show at Paris fashion Week.
The Gossip frontwoman had opened the show with a thunderous a cappella performance.
She also ended it, strutting  down the catwalk in a specially made tight floral creation.
Pushing the boundaries: At size 28, Beth is much larger than the usual size 14 plus-sized models

The punk-infused show saw Beth followed by a series of models in Joan Jett spiky wigs, and hardcore gear that was on-trend with the punk collections shown earlier this week at red-hot labels Balmain and Balenciaga.
The invitations has announced the show would explore the contrast between XXL and XXS but besides Beth and one other larger model, the others were the usual cast of waifs who dominate the catwalks worldwide.

While at first glance she might make an unusual model, Beth recently said: 'If anyone understands what it's like to be a woman who's subjected to body politics, it's a f****** model.'
This month sees Beth's second collection for Evans hot the shelves.
