COMME DES GARÇONS BAG A PACO RABANNE COLLABORATION

Rei Kawakubo has collaborated with labels including Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, Levis and Cutler & Gross in the past.

Now her Comme des Garçons brand is set to work with iconic sixties designer Paco Rabanne or reissuing one of its key 1969 handbags, re-imagined by Kawakubo in new materials and fabrics. The designs will be debuted at London Fashion Week, and sold initially exclusively in Comme des Garçons stores.

The coupling of Rei Kawakubo with the Paco Rabanne name is an apposite one- Kawakubo has built up Comme des Garçons through her highly innovative approach to design, (influencing the likes of Alexander McQueen and Martin Margiela) while Rabanne was an early pioneer of avant garde techniques- creating paper dresses in 1966, and knitted fur in 1968. While the collection will be small, it should be an interesting one.
